چکیده

Methods We performed a retrospective review of patients late after Fontan operation who underwent CMR measurement of APC flow at our institution from 2003 through 2009. APC flow was quantified as either aortic flow minus total caval flow or aortic flow minus sum of branch pulmonary artery flow, and was indexed to body surface area (BSA). Patients with a patent fenestration or baffle leak were excluded.

Aortopulmonary collaterals after bidirectional cavopulmonary connection or Fontan completion: quantification with MRI.

BACKGROUND Aortopulmonary collaterals (APCs) have been associated with increased morbidity after the Fontan operation. We aimed to quantify APC flow after bidirectional cavopulmonary connections and Fontan completions, using phase-contrast MRI, and to identify risk factors for the development of APCs. METHODS AND RESULTS APC blood flow was quantifiable in 24 of 36 retrospectively analyzed MRI...

Pulmonary vascular resistance, collateral flow, and ventricular function in patients with a Fontan circulation at rest and during dobutamine stress.

BACKGROUND The role, interplay, and relative importance of the multifactorial hemodynamic and myocardial mechanisms causing dysfunction of the Fontan circulation remain incompletely understood. METHODS AND RESULTS Using an MRI catheterization technique, we performed a differential analysis of pulmonary vascular resistance and aortopulmonary collateral blood flow in conjunction with global ven...

The Fontan procedure in adults.

SETTING Tertiary adult congenital cardiac referral centre. DESIGN Retrospective cross sectional analysis. OBJECTIVES To report our 20 year experience with adult Fontan operations, and to compare late outcome in patients with single ventricle with definitive aortopulmonary or cavopulmonary shunt palliation. PATIENTS AND MAIN OUTCOME MEASURES Patients older than 18 years undergoing Fontan o...

CMR-based planning of catheter and surgical interventions for aortopulmonary collaterals before Fontan completion: pilot study of 5 cases

Background Aortopulmonary collateral arteries (APCAs) are frequently observed in single ventricle patients. However those patients require staged surgery toward Fontan completion, APCAs are believed to cause evil situations against Fontan circulation such as impediment of anterograde pulmonary blood flow, volume overload for single ventricle and decrease in systemic blood flow. Therefore, inter...

Outcome after a "perfect" Fontan operation.

A study was undertaken to determine the early and long-term outcomes dictated by the Fontan state per se (a state in which the force driving pulmonary blood flow is solely or largely a residue, in the systemic venous pressure, of the main ventricular chamber's contractile force) and the transition (by surgery) to it from the state of congenital heart disease under optimal conditions (after a "p...
